What is SIP trunking and why is the best VoIP option

What is SIP Trunking and why is it so appealing?

First of all what is SIP? SIP stands for Session Initiation Protocol. A SIP session is essentially a standard phone call between 2 participants, a multiple party conference call or even a video call.

What is a SIP Trunk? The term SIP Trunk is in other words a “virtual” phone line as opposed to the traditional analog phone line physical wire. It uses your data circuit to join your phone system to the internet, this service is provided by a SIP Trunking provider also called VoIP provider.

VoIP stands for Voice Over Internet Protocol, which means any voice call transmitted over a data network, in more simple terms phone service over the internet. With this technology one is able to make voice calls using a wireless internet connection instead of a regular phone line through an app installed on the device or by using an IP-PBX installed on a server.
